Far West Meats has been in business since 1922. Our company was founded on the idea of being able to provide quality meat products at a low price and providing our customers with the best value in the meat category.
Our manufacturing facility is regulated by the United States Department of
Agriculture, USDA, and our USDA identification numbers are 2846, P-2846, and 2846-A. The USDA regulates all meat manufacturing plants and require all plants to be compliant with all regulations. Our company has many safety precautions and plans set in place in order to supply a safe product for our consumers. The certifications our company holds are Certificate of Organic Registrations from the California Department of Food and Agriculture State Organic Program and a Silliker Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety System Audit from Mérieux NutriSciences Certification LLC. The Silliker Audit is a third-party audit to verify our company is compliant with current regulations and industry practices through program reviews and on-site observations. This third party audit focuses on complete traceability starting from our venders through our distributors and finally to our customers.
The benefits to choosing Far West Meats as your meat provider is that we manufacture our own: low cost, quality, fresh product and locally for the past 99 years. We sell to major retailers throughout Southern California as well as many school districts, state and county facilities, and local meat markets. Where our products are being sold can be found at: Cardenas, Ralphs, Smart & Final, Stater Brothers, Vallarta Supermarkets, Walmart, WinCo, San Manuel Casino and Yum Yum Donuts. Our objective is to bring our products to you directly through ecommerce, fundraisers, our company store, and through our retail partners.
The owner and employees of Far West Meats strive and are committed to providing their customers with exceptional service and high quality meat products at the most affordable prices each and every day.
Far West Meats was founded by Thomas Serrato in 1922. He began by supplying meat directly to customers at great low prices. In 1962, our company transitioned to the wholesale market, selling to restaurants and small meat markets. Now, Thomas Serrato III is following in his grandfather's footsteps, bringing the great taste of Far West Meats directly to you, in stores and on-line.
Our famous smokehouse taste has been the center of barbeques for over 90 years and we continue to provide local, fresh and savory meats.
Far West Meats is a USDA regulated facility. Our company has 4 HACCP plans being implemented in our facility including; Fully Cooked-Not Shelf Stable, Raw Not Ground, Raw Ground, and Heat Treated- Not Fully Cooked- Not Shelf Stable. The HACCP system identifies specific hazards and measures for their control to ensure the safety of food. HACCP is a tool to assess hazards and establish control systems that focus on prevention rather than relying mainly on end-product testing.
Another precautionary measure we take are our pre-requisites programs for our raw materials and packaging. Our raw meat products must meet our preset qualifications before being accepted and eventually being used in production.
Far West Meats holds a Certificate of Organic Registration from the California Department of Food and Agriculture State Organic Program. Far West Meats also holds a Silliker Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety System Audit from Mérieux NutriSciences Certification LLC. This company performs a third-party audit to verify our plant's compliance with current regulations and industry practices through program reviews and on-site observations.
